Suffering from recurrent or persistent sinus infections and live in Saint Paul or Minneapolis? Visit MN Ear & Sinus Center for proper diagnosis and treatment.
Sinus infections are quite common across all age groups. During flu season, acute sinusitis is normal and often resolves on its own. However, chronic sinusitis that lasts for several weeks requires specialized treatment.
Chronic sinusitis/rhinosinusitis often shows persistent flu-like symptoms that cause great discomfort and significantly affect the quality of your life. The infection can lead to prolonged nasal blockages, headaches, stuffy nose, and other symptoms.
At MN Ear & Sinus in Blaine, our lead surgeon Dr. Yorgason usually recommends low invasive surgery to treat chronic rhinosinusitis.
There are several approaches that our specialists can take to treat chronic sinusitis. These include low invasive sinus surgery, endoscopic procedures, minimally invasive sinus technique (MIST), among others.
Low invasive sinus surgery is a minor surgical procedure that doesn’t involve significant incisions, bone removal, or general anesthesia. Shoreview ENT Dr. Yorgason will use an endoscope during the examination to identify any inflammations, damaged or swollen tissues, and infections. A positive diagnosis may not necessarily call for immediate surgery. As a first step, we usually prescribe antibiotics and nasal sprays as we observe our patients. Only when our doctors are confident that you need the surgery shall it be recommended.
Low invasive sinus surgery may involve using an endoscope, lasers, and other devices to correct a deviated septum or remove pus and infected tissue. A typical surgery can take anything from 15 minutes to an hour, depending on the severity of your condition.
Many patients suffer from chronic rhinosinusitis but don’t seek help. It’s easy to ignore the symptoms of the condition as minor annoyances until they get worse. If you have the following symptoms, visit our clinic to find out if you need sinus surgery:
