Does your child get frequent ear infections that do not respond to antibiotics? We can help.
At MN Ear & Sinus Center, we offer ear tubes surgery procedure for infants and children to help get rid of common bacterial infections. These infections are usually caused by fluids in the child’s middle ear. Our clinic in Blaine is a welcoming abode for parents and their children. We serve patients from all over Blaine, Shoreview, St. Paul, Minneapolis, Circle Pines/Lino Lakes, and the surrounding areas.
Led by our resident ENT surgeon Dr. Yorgason, our team will surgically place a small tube in your child’s eardrum to drain the fluid and, consequently, reduce the risk of ear infections.
We may recommend ear tubes surgery for your child if one or more of the following conditions are present:
After surgery, your child may feel nauseated, groggy, or irritable due to the anesthesia. Our team will be there to watch the toddler closely as he or she recovers before the two of you can go home.
Generally, ear tubes stay in place for 6 to 12 months, after which they fall out on their own. Your child may also experience ear drainage, which can be controlled by administering antibiotic ear drops. Sometimes, a small hole may remain on the eardrum after the tube has fallen off. However, this is a rare case that has only been reported in 1% of children.
After surgery, we’ll ask you to bring your child to our hospital three to four weeks later. Dr. Yorgason will check the tubes to ensure they are working well. Apart from this, he’ll do a hearing test on your child. We may then recommend follow-ups every 3 to 6 months until the tubes have fallen off.
